A couple from Calasiao, Pangasinan caught two men breaking into their property, leading to the arrest of one suspect.

Around 5 a.m. on June 9, Fe Canlas and her husband opened their gate in Barangay San Vicente and saw the suspects trying to flee their yard after stealing from their store.

One of them was holding a backpack, while the other had a cellphone, which he handed over to his companion quickly before running off.

“Nakatakbo ‘yong isa, ‘yong may bag. ‘Yong isa, nahuli po namin,” Canlas said.

Fe added that the thieves entered through a recently built part of their yard that was still unsecured.

“Bagong gawa lang ito kagabi. Open ito, at saka alam namin dito dumaan [kasi ‘yong tsinelas niya andito,” she said.

Police confirmed later that a cellphone and P600 in cash were taken but have not been recovered.

The arrested suspect, 26, is from Barangay Caranglaan, Dagupan City. He has not given any statement.

The other suspect remains at large, as of this writing.

The police continue to search for the missing suspect.
