Three schools in the Municipality of San Juan, Province of Siquijor have been checked by officials of the Department of Education (DepEd), following a series of tremors in the Visayas and Mindanao areas in the first two weeks of October 2025.

DepEd officials along with local government unit (LGU) officials checked Tambisan Elementary School, Catulayan National High School, and Solangon Elementary School.

According to the Siquijor DepEd Division, large cracks are apparent at a building of Solangon Elementary School. A few classrooms were found to have collapsed because of the magnitude 6.9 earthquake that rocked Cebu on September 30, 2025.

Governor Jake Vincent Villa and Lone District Representative Zaldy Villa joined the inspection. They vowed to allocate funds for the construction of new school buildings at safer grounds.

Based on the recommendation of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), school administrators have been prohibited from using facilities with apparent damages.

Face-to-face classes are being carried out at barangay halls in Solangon and Lala-o in San Juan, according to Dr. Rosalie Pasaol, schools division superintendent of Siquijor.
