The remains of six people from the ill-fated Philippine Air Force (PAF) Super Huey helicopter were retrieved from the crash site in Loreto, Agusan del Sur on on Wednesday, November 5, 2025.

The remains were brought to Davao City for autopsy and forensic examination.

“The Philippine Air Force is awaiting the final forensic report to confirm their identities. The PAF is in close coordination with EastMinCom and local authorities to ensure that all necessary procedures are properly undertaken,” PAF Spokesperson, Col. Cristina Basco, said.

The Eastern Mindanao Command (EastMinCom) of the Armed Forces of the Philippines earlier said that the aircraft was deployed to deliver humanitarian aid and support disaster relief efforts in areas affected by Typhoon #TinoPH.

The helicopter was heading to the Tactical Operations Group 10 in Butuan City when the incident happened. All six people on board, including the pilot and crew, perished in the incident.

PAF said four aircrafts, including the Super Huey, took off for the humanitarian assistance and disaster response (HADR) mission on Tuesday, November 4. The Super Huey lost communication mid-flight.

Authorities are still investigating the cause of the crash.

“Pag hindi po favorable ang wind condition natin di po natin pinapa takeoff because safety of our crew is paramount so ‘yung time na yon naka takeoff po sila unfortunately nangyari itong mishap,” Basco added.

Basco explained that the Super Huey, a refurbished aircraft acquired in 2011, undergoes regular maintenance inspection to ensure airworthiness.

“This is a refurbished aircraft. It’s been in the Air Force since 2011. It has been reconfigured to operational and airworthiness and it’s a reliable aircraft. We conduct periodic maintenance inspection pag may nakita po tayong discrepancy di po natin pinapa-take off,” Basco added.
