More than 1,000 police officers are set to be deployed along major roads for the Traslacion of the Jesus Nazareno in Cagayan de Oro City on Friday, January 9, 2026.
According to the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (COCPO), security measures are already in place for the religious activity.
COCPO said that more than 1,000 police officers from various units will be deployed in key areas to ensure peace and order during the feast.
Additional personnel will also be assigned to secure the perimeter near the image to prevent any disturbance during the procession.
Emilita Simon, said.
Meanwhile, police warned the public of possible temporary signal interference in some areas, based on the agreement with the Department of Information and Technology (DICT).
Areas along the Traslacion route and nearby locations are expected to be affected.
The Mass will begin at 3 a.m. at the St. Augustine Metropolitan Cathedral. The image of the Jesus Nazareno will then be brought out and carried along Velez Street, Julio Pacana Street, and CM Recto Avenue, before reaching the Jesus Nazareno Parish.
