A 34-year-old woman who was supposed to visit her detained husband was arrested after she allegedly tried to sneak suspected shabu into the Cagayan de Oro City Jail in Barangay Lumbia.
The suspect identified as alias “Len-Len” was arrested at past 9 a.m. on Thursday, April 16, 2026.
According to the Cagayan de Oro City Jail-Male Dormitory, the woman was set to visit her husband but during the standard body frisking procedure, authorities reportedly noticed something suspicious in her private area.
Jail Inspector Krizza Jane Bermudo, spokesperson of the Cagayan de Oro City Jail-Male Dormitory, said the woman consented to a strip search, during which personnel discovered what they believed to be illegal contraband.
“They asked for consent if they could conduct strip search and this individual ni consent man sad and they saw what they believed is illegal contraband. Immediately nag-coordinate ta sa PNP and barangay officials for proper documentation,” Bermudo said.
Seized from the suspect were more than 12 grams of suspected shabu worth around P82,000; drug paraphernalia; and cigarettes.
The woman was taken into police custody and will face charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act (RA 9165(.
Jail authorities reminded visitors to follow regulation strictly to ensure smooth entry.
