The Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Environmental Management Bureau in Northern Mindanao (DENR-EMB 10) has clarified that the air quality in Cagayan de Oro City remains within normal levels.

EMB-10 made the clarification after reports circulated on social media that air quality in the city has reached critical level.

The agency also denied reports that a health risk alert was raised due to polluted air in the city.

Based on data gathered from continuous ambient air quality monitoring stations, EMB-10 said the city’s air quality index (AQI) for particulate matter (PM 2.5) is still classified as “Good,” which means there is no risk to public health.

Authorities urged the public to refrain from spreading false information to avoid causing unnecessary alarm.
