A nine-year-old girl died after she was hit and run over by a jeepney near the Cogon Public Market in Cagayan de Oro City.
Based on investigation, the vehicle reportedly lost its brakes and hit the girl who was crossing the road.
Police said the driver reportedly admitted he had noticed problems with the vehicle’s brakes earlier and attempted to repair it prior to the incident.

Video footage showed the victim lying on the ground and covered in her own blood.
After the incident, bystanders ganged up on the 47-year-old driver, punching and assaulting him before police arrived and intervened.
The crowd also damaged the jeepney before the vehicle was impounded by authorities.
