A 50-year-old man died while his 14-year-old daughter was injured in a shooting incident inside an internet café in Sitio Tabok Sapa, Barangay Jaclupan, Talisay City, Cebu.
Based on investigation, the victim identified as Richard Silva De Lima was reportedly playing inside the internet shop when a gunman entered and shot him in the head.
The bullet exited the victim’s body and struck his daughter in the leg.
The victims were rushed to a hospital, but the father was declared dead on arrival. His daughter survived and is set to undergo surgery to remove the bullet from her leg.
“Nakita nako ang tawo nag-helmet pero wala ra sa ako kay internetan man… basin naa siyay arion diri… mao na to, akong nakuanan nga buto,” shop owner, Elvie Cabiluna, said.
The family said the victim had no known enemies, making the motive behind the attack unclear.
“Kay diri lang dapita wa man koy nadungog nga naa siyay kontra. Akong gikuanan ngano gipusil siya. Nag ana ko nga siya ra gyud nasayod unsa gyud iyang atraso ato,” the victim’s cousin, Helen Jaberina, added.
A CCTV camera inside the internet café failed to record the incident as its memory was reportedly full.
However, footage from a CCTV camera near the internet shop showed a man believed to be the suspect wearing a helmet and a bonnet over his face calmly as he was walking away from the area after the shooting.
Authorities are still investigating the incident to identify the assailant and determine the motive.
