No major damage was reported in Caraga, Davao Oriental, the epicenter of the magnitude 5.6 earthquake that struck the province late Wednesday, May 6, 2026.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) recorded the magnitude at 5.9, initially, before downgrading it to 5.6.

CCTV footage showed residents and pets getting startled by strong shaking.

No major damage to infrastructure was reported, according to the Caraga Information Office. However, damage assessment continues, as of this writing.

“As of this time po, there’s no reported major damages both residential, commercial, and government infrastructure while and RDANA is still ongoing,” Caraga Information Officer, Joshua Matarando, said.

PHIVOLCS said Intensity V was felt in Baganga, Caraga, Cateel, and Tarragona towns in Davao Oriental.

Intensity IV was experienced in Compostela and Laak, Davao de Oro; Tagum City, Davao del Norte; and Boston, Lupon, Manay, and Mati City, Davao Oriental.

Intensity III was felt in Mabini, Mawab, Monkayo, Montevista, Nabunturan, and New Bataan, Davao de Oro; Carmen and New Corella, Davao del Norte; Malita, Davao Occidental; and Banaybanay and San Isidro, Davao Oriental.

Meanwhile, other areas in Davao de Oro, Davao del Sur, Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, Davao City, and Davao Occidental, as well as Cotabato experienced Intensity II while Digos City, Davao del Sur felt Intensity I.
