The security situation in the Davao Region and provinces nearby remains stable despite a travel advisory issued by the Australian government warning of possible terrorist attacks in the Philippines, the Army’s 10th Infantry Division (10ID) said.

In its advisory posted on social media, the Australian Embassy urged its citizens to reconsider travel to eastern Mindanao, except for Camiguin, Dinagat and Siargao Islands.

10ID said the division continues to strengthen inter-agency cooperation and security operations to maintain peace and order in its area of responsibility, which covers the entire Davao region and parts of Sarangani, Cotabato, Bukidnon, Agusan del Sur, and Surigao del Sur.

10ID assured the public that there is no cause for alarm as the global security assessment is just a precautionary measure.

The military said there have been no recent violent incidents initiated by the New People’s Army (NPA) or any terrorist group in the region.

“Wala tay any incident, NPA initiated violent incidence, wala.
