An employee of the Isabela City Government in Basilan was killed while her husband was injured after they were shot at a farm in Barangay Lanote evening on Thursday, May 14, 2026.

Authorities said the fatality is a 48-year-old administrative assistant at the City Accounting Office.

Based on investigation, the couple was on their way home from work when two suspects riding a motorcycle shot them upon reaching the place of the incident.

Residents rushed the victims to a hospital but the woman died while undergoing treatment. Her husband is receiving treatment, as of this writing.

Police are pursuing the perpetrators, while the investigation into the incident continues to identify the assailants and determine the motive.

The city government extended its sympathies to the victim’s family and called on authorities to expedite the investigation and bring the perpetrators to justice.
