At least five families were ordered to evacuate after the ground near their homes in a subdivision in Barangay Catalunan Pequeño, Davao City caved in.
The land that caved in is part of the foundation of a concrete road, which was why vehicles were disallowed from passing the area in Block 18.
It was learned that the landslide occurred near the section that was repaired following another landslide in October 2021.
So kining nag-landslide karon, mao ning part nga wala nag-landslide before katong 2021,” a resident affected, Jarrie Mandabon, said.
Residents expressed concern that persistent rains could worsen the soil movement and threaten homes located just a few steps away from the area affected.
So, doble among bayrunon,” Mandabon added.
The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) issued notices for families affected to vacate their houses due to safety risks.
Barangay officials also reportedly informed the developer of the subdivision about the incident.
The residents displaced hope for immediate action so they can return safely home.
