The body of a 33-year-old construction worker was found floating in a river in Calasiao, Pangasinan morning on Thursday, May 28, 2026, with police ruling out foul play initially and pointing to possible drowning as the cause of death.

Authorities identified the victim as a resident of Barangay Ambonao in Calasiao.

Police said residents discovered the body floating in the Marusay River at around 7:30 a.m. and immediately alerted authorities.

Immediately pinuntahan po ng ating mga kapulisan,” Police Lieutenant Colonel Rodel Gabatin, chief of the Calasiao Police Station, said.

Investigators said the victim bore no visible injuries that would suggest an attack.

Gabatin also dismissed speculation circulating online that the victim had been tied up before his death.

According to the victim’s mother, he was last seen on May 27 riding a tricycle on his way to Barangay Caranglaan in Dagupan City.

Family members mourned the victim, describing him as hardworking and kind.

“Napakabait ng anak kong iyon, masipag. Hindi siya suwail na anak. Napakabait niya,” Arma Ferrer, the victim’s mother, said.
