The nationwide Brigada Eskwela 2026 kicked off in Cabadbaran City, Agusan del Norte on Monday, June 1, 2026, as preparation for the start of School Year 2026-2027 in public schools.

Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Edgardo Angara led the opening of Brigada Eskwela activities at Cabadbaran National High School.

“Galing kami sa closing sa Palarong Pambansa sa Agusan del Sur, so we decided to do it also in Caraga Region,” Angara said.

Joined by provincial government officials, they painted classrooms, cleaned school surroundings, and planted narra trees.

Brigada Eskwela was also opened in other areas across Mindanao.

In Davao City, the initiative was launched at Maa Central Elementary School, where various stakeholders cleaned classrooms and donated supplies.

“Celebrate the enduring Filipino spirit of bayanihan. A spirit that reminds us that education is not the responsibility of the schools alone,” Davao City Schools Division Superintendent, Reynante Solitario, said.

“Maraming salamat for returning your operational gains into corporate social reponsibility. We need one another for us to grow together,” DepEd-Davao Director, Allan Farnazo, added.

The Department of Labor and Employment-Davao (DOLE-11) also deployed more than 800 TUPAD beneficiaries to assist schools in the region.

Meanwhile, at least 50 early enrollees at Jose R. Lansang Elementary School in Barangay Lagao, General Santos City received school supplies.

School officials called for more volunteers and donations of cleaning materials as the activities continue.

“Ang  stakeholders kasi ay isa sa mga dugo na bumubuhya sa ating  ga paaralan so need natin lalo na yung mga services  ng ating mga parents,” Jose R. Lansang Elementary School Principal, Sheila Joy Alcalen, said.
