After two years, the part of Timawa Avenue in Molo, Iloilo that was the subject of a road and drainage project was opened on June 19, 2026.

Included in the project was the construction and rehabilitation of 477 meters of the road and drainage infrastructure.

The opening was led by Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Vince Dizon who expressed disappointment over the project’s delay.

Fifty million was allocated for the project, which started in 2024. It was supposed to be completed in the same year but work stopped in June 2025 due to several problems.

In April 2026, the local government brought this to Dizon’s attention and Dizon ordered that the project be completed as soon as possible.

“Nagalit talaga ako nun, eh, kasi sinabi sa akin ni mayor na two years na ito, napaiksi lang, and yet, two years na. Kawawa ang mga residents natin dito, kawawa ang school, kawawa ang mga students. Two years? People don’t deserve it,” Dizon said.

“Projects na nahinto, two years, three years or five years… yung Aganan flyover, five years, it is really unacceptable. We deserve better,” he added.

He assured that a portion of the Aganan flyover will be opened in December 2026. He also said that rehabilitation of roads below the Ungka and Buhang flyovers will be completed by this time.

Dina Ruinata, a resident, is thankful that the project in Molo is completed, finally, because it has reportedly caused traffic congestion in the area.

“Nagtataka nga kami ng ganon katagal kasi ang tagal. Iyan ang dahilan ng traffic,” she said.
