The 14-year-old student who made threats against a school in Leyte has been made to undergo psychological intervention and check-up.

Zerah Janette Leysa of the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) of Tolosa, Leyte, said it was found that the female student has been the subject of bullying since Grade 9.

She is now in Grade 10.

Her family is also experiencing problems that may have affected the child.

The student has admitted making the threat and has since apologized to her parents.

This is reportedly the first time Tolosa National High School has a student that behaved this way.

The student reportedly created another social media account where she could post the threat - that something bad would happen to the school.

Authorities were quick to pacify the threat.

HEIGHTENED SECURITY

Stricter security has been put in place at Tolosa National High School.

Capt. Jose Costiniano, Jr. of the Tolosa Police Station, said they have deployed policemen to the school.

“Still monitoring pa kami sa bata at doon sa school nila. Palagi po kaming may idine-deploy na pulis… mayroom silang security guard sa school together with barangay tanod at kami police presence para ma-prevent natin kung may krimen na mangyayari,” he said.

Costiniano has a piece of advice to netizens:

“Wag tayo magpo-post ng hindi makakatulong. Diba may kasabihan tayo na think before you click,” he said.

The threat against Tolosa came in the heels of the shooting inside San Jose National High School in Tacloban City that killed three students and injured several others on June 22, 2026.

The suspects in the shooting are minor students, 14 and 15 years old.
