Another case of violence involving students was added to the growing list of cases in the Philippines punctuated by the fatal shooting at a school in Tacloban City on June 22, 2026.

On June 29, a Grade 8 student in Bacolod City sustained injuries after he was stabbed by a Grade 7 student outside their school.

The victim, 14 years old, was hit on the side and his hand.

According to the police, a commotion occurred outside the Sum-ag National High School, which ended with the 12-year-old suspect stabbing the victim.

It was not determined what the suspect used to stab the victim.

“Base sa investigation ng ating WCDP, parang may commotion na nangyari tapos natumba ang suspect. May napulot raw siya na parang pointed object,” said Lt. Wilson Aguilar, deputy chief of the Bacolod City Police Station 9.

Authorities have taken the suspect under custody.

“Ini-establish pa natin ang motibo. Ang suspect raw, may mga grupo. Huwag na sana silang mag-join sa mga gang-gang,” Aguilar said.

Earlier, on June 23, a Grade 9 student in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental landed in the hospital after he was stabbed by a Grade 10 student outside the Julio Ledesma National High School.
