Authorities have launched an investigation into an alleged social media post threatening a bomb and gun attack at Eastern Samar National Comprehensive High School (ESNCHS) on Friday, July 3, 2026.

In a statement, the Eastern Samar Police Provincial Office (ESPPO) said security measures were taken immediately to ensure the safety of students, school personnel, and the public.

Personnel from the Borongan City Police Station and members of the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) and Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit conducted a thorough inspection of the school premises.

Authorities declared the area clear of any bomb or firearm threat at around 8:35 a.m.

Despite this, investigators continue to trace the source of the online post to identify those responsible.

Police warned that legal action will be pursued against individuals found guilty of spreading false information, issuing threat, or causing public alarm.

“The ESPPO urges the public to refrain from sharing unverified information on social media and to immediately report any suspicious activity or security concerns to the nearest police station. Responsible use of social media is essential in preventing unnecessary panic and ensuing public safety,” ESPPO Director, Col. Ernesto Macasil, said.
