The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) has reported that three alleged former rebels accused of murder and crimes against humanity were arrested in separate operations in Mindanao.
CIDG said the suspects were arrested during manhunt operations in Sarangani Province, Agusan del Norte, and Surigao del Norte on July 13 and 15, 2026.
One of the suspects was identified as alias “Leo.” He was arrested in Barangay Kihan, Malapatan, Sarangani for alleged murder, attempted murder, and robbery with violence against or intimidation of persons.
Authorities said Leo was a former member of the New People’s Army operating in Sarangani and was tagged as the number one most wanted person in Malapatan.
Meanwhile, CIDG personnel also arrested another suspect identified as alias “Mike” in Barangay Del Pilar, Cabadbaran City, Agusan del Norte on July 15 for alleged violation of Republic Act 9851 or the Crimes Against International Humanitarian Law, Genocide, and Other Crimes against Humanity.
CIDG said Mike was a former member of the NPA’s Guerilla Front 16C, Sub-Regional Sentro de Grabidad Westland.
On the same day, authorities arrested another suspecet identified as alias “Nika” in Barangay Santa Cruz, Placer, Surigao del Norte for alleged multiple attempted murder.
CIDG said Nika was a former NPA member assigned to the Guerilla Front 16, Northeastern Mindanao Regional Committee (NEMRC) and was tagged as the number six most wanted person of Kitcharao Municipal Police Station.
“The capture of the three former CTG members-fugitives helped all the victims attain the justice they deserved, and significantly contributed to the government’s win over terrorism,” CIDG said.
