A 16-year-old Grade 9 student in Bacolod City was caught with suspected shabu in his bag as he was leaving school from a basketball game.

The security guard checked the student’s bag following information that he was allegedly bringing a bladed weapon.

“Itinuturo siya na may armas sa bag. HInahanap siya ng mga school guard,” said Salvacion Verges, Violence Against Women and Children Desk Office of Barangay 2.

But authorities are not discounting the possibility that the two packets of suspected shabu might have been planted.

“Baka pinag-tripan lang siya. Malalaman natin kung ano ang result sa laboratory test. Baka inilagay lang ng classmates niya,” said Lt. Benjo Ballo-allo, Chief of the Bacolod City Police Station 3.

The boy’s mother has denied vehemently that her son uses illegal drugs.

In an exclusive interview with GMA Regional TV Ratsada Balita, the mother said her son is finding it difficult to accept that someone in school would do that to him.

“Umiiyak siya. Hindi niya matanggap. Pinag-tripan pa nila kahit ganyan na kahirap ang problema. Ang sakit sa dibdib,” she said.

The boy is now under the custody of the Social Development Center of the Bacolod City LGU.

Dr. Dennis Develos, Schools Division Superintendent of the DepEd Division of Bacolod City said DepEd is now investigating the incident.

“Subject for investigation pa. We will wait and gather the documents and, in due time, we will release a public statement,” Develos said.

The school has not released a statement.
