A Grade 9 student was injured after he was allegedly assaulted by his schoolmate and the latter’s brother inside a school in Balingasag, Misamis Oriental on Wednesday, July 22, 2026.

According to the Misamis Oriental Police Provincial Office (MORPPO), the physical altercation occurred around midday, which caused a commotion inside the campus.

Based on investigation, the two children in conflict with the law (CICLs) entered the school and attacked the 14-year-old victim.

Police said the father of the two CICLs also entered the school grounds.

Later, several students in the school reportedly also assaulted the two CICLs and their father. Authorities have yet to identify the students.

Personnel of the Balingasag Municipal Police Station responded and launched a follow-up operation to locate the involved persons.

MORPPO said the investigation is still ongoing to identify all individuals involved and to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Police assured the public that the case is being handled fairly and in line with legal procedures, while ensuring that the rights and welfare of all minors involved are protected.

“Ang paaralan ay dapat maging ligtas na lugar para sa pagkatuto at paghubog ng magandang kinabukasan ng ating mga kabataan. Walang puwang ang anumang uri ng bullying, pananakit, pananakot, o karahasan sa loob at labas ng ating mga paaralan,” MORPPO said.

MORPPO Director, Col. Al Abanales, said the deployment of police personnel in schools across the province has been intensified to ensure campus security, provide immediate police response, and build stronger collaboration among law enforcement, students, teachers, parents, and the community.

Abanales also urged the public to report incidents of bullying to school authorities or the nearest police station.
