Two men were shot dead while sitting along the road in Barangay Barang, Malasiqui, Pangasinan after unidentified gunmen on a motorcycle allegedly returned to target them, police said.
According to the Malasiqui Police Station, the suspects first passed by the victims before turning back and opening fire on Saturday, July 25, 2026.
Both victims were rushed to a hospital but were declared dead on arrival.
A woman who was also caught in the shooting was injured and taken to a hospital. Police said she is now in stable condition.
Ken Belo, the brother of one of the victims, said witnesses believed the attackers targeted the two men.
"Nakatambay lang po sila sa labas. Tapos may mga nakamanman daw. Sinasabi diyan sa labas, unang balik daw tinignan muna sila, talagang target. Tapos nung pangalawang balik, doon na sila pinagbabaril," he said.
Investigators recovered eight spent shell casings from a 9mm firearm at the crime scene.
Police have yet to determine the motive behind the attack and declined to release further details to avoid compromising the investigation.
"Sa ngayon ay hindi muna natin maaaring sabihin 'yung mga motibo o kung sino para hindi masira o ma-jeopardize 'yung ongoing investigation," PLTCOL. Francisco Sawadan Jr., chief of the Malasiqui Police Station, said.
The victims' relatives said they have no idea why the men were attacked and appealed for justice.
"Sa mga gumawa sa kanya, naway hiling ko katarungan. Alam ko wala siyang ginawang masama. Maawa naman kayo. Wala siyang kaaway na alam ko," An aunt of one of the victims said.
Belo also called for the suspects to be held accountable.
"Sa mga gumawa sa kuya ko, wala pong kapatawaran ang ginawa niyo sa kanya. Sana mabulok kayo sa kulungan," he said.
Police said they have already identified persons of interest and are preparing to file charges.
"Iniimbestigahan natin at meron na tayong persons of interest. Anytime today ay puwede natin mai-file ang kaukulang kaso upang sa ganoon ay mabigyan ng hustisya itong pangyayari," Sawadan said.
