Fertilizer prices went down slightly ahead of the planting season, offering some relief to farmers, but limited supply continues to be a concern, according to the Samahang Industriya ng Agrikultura (SINAG).

SINAG Chairman Engr. Rosendo So said lower international fertilizer prices have started to affect local prices and could lead to further reductions in the coming months.

"'Yung fertilizer bumaba sa international price, so kung makita natin 'yung season na ito [planting season], baka bumaba pa lalo," he said.

SINAG said it could not yet determine the reason behind the limited supply, as of posting.

Farmers welcomed the lower prices, saying the reduction would help ease production costs.

However, many said they still could not buy or stockpile fertilizer because of limited funds. They also reported that fertilizer supply has remained scarce for nearly a month.

Carlos Cera, a farmer, said even a small drop in prices makes a difference.

"Kahit papaano, medyo bumaba ang presyo. Talagang mahalaga sa amin," he said.

As of July 30, 2026, fertilizer sells for about P1,000 to P1,100 per sack, around P200 cheaper than in previous months, according to the monitoring.
