Authorities in Pangasinan continued monitoring major rivers on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, as heavy rains from the southwest monsoon and a tropical cyclone prompted class suspensions, a gale warning, and heightened disaster preparedness across the province.

The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) said the Marusay River in Calasiao rose from 6 feet in the morning to 6.4 feet above normal level. The river remains below its critical level of 8 feet but continues to be closely monitored.

The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) is also monitoring other major rivers in Pangasinan. As of its latest report, the Sinocalan River in Sta. Barbara was 5.6 meters below normal level, the Balingcaguing River in Mabini was at its normal level of 2 meters, the Bañaga River in Bugallon was 0.5 meters below normal, and the Cayang River in San Fabian was 5.8 meters below normal.

At 5 a.m., authorities raised a gale warning along the Pangasinan coastline due to rough sea conditions.

Fishing boats and other small vessels were barred from sailing, while operators of larger vessels were advised to exercise caution as waves could reach 9 to 14 feet.

Meanwhile, nearly all cities and municipalities in Pangasinan suspended classes on August 5 because of continuing bad weather brought by the southwest monsoon and #MaymayPH.
