A 56-year-old woman died when she was run over by the truck that hit the motorcycle she and her husband were riding.

The incident happened in Barangay Ilang, Davao City morning on August 6, 2026. 

Police investigation showed that the couple’s motorcycle and the wing van truck were traveling in the same direction on Maharlika Highway.

When the two vehicles reached an area with heavy traffic, the motorcycle reportedly slowed down but the driver of the truck, which was traveling behind, reportedly did not notice the change of speed and hit the motorcycle in the back.

The impact threw the woman who was riding in pillion off the motorcycle and onto the street. She was then ran over by the truck.

Her husband, the one driving the motorcycle, is safe.

The truck driver was taken into custody by the Bunawan Police. He is facing charges for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide.
