Up to 100 families were affected when a reported tornado grazed through Iloilo City evening on Saturday, August 8, 2026.

In Jaro District, at least 40 families had to be evacuated after the tornado damaged their homes in Barangay Cubay.

The tornado uprooted several trees and plants at the Jaro Plaza.

"Several trees and plants were uprooted and scattered across the plaza. Residents and local personnel are now carrying out clearing operations, while safety measures are in place in the affected area," read a post by the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO).

The Iloilo City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) started clearing operations immediately, which continued until morning on Sunday, August 9.

The tornado also brought down utility posts, most of which are located in the Mandurriao District, still in Iloilo City.

This resulted in power interruptions but electricity returned after several hours.
