Around 50 families were displaced by a fire that razed their homes in Barangay Sangali, Zamboanga City on Friday, August 14, 2026.

Authorities said the fire broke out at past 1 a.m. and was raised to the third alarm before it was put out at around 3:52 a.m.

According to the city government, the Zamboanga City Fire District reported that the fire engulfed around 40 houses, which were made of light materials.

A resident sustained minor injuries.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said the damage to properties is estimated at more than P1.4 million.

Authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire.

Mayor Khymer Olaso has tasked the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) and other offices concerned to provide the necessary assistance to the families affected, including food, temporary shelter, and water, among others.
