It only took less than two minutes for the night to end.

Christian “The Bomb” Araneta, a native of Borbon, Cebu punched his way into victory against Arvin “The Hurricane” Magdamo of Parañaque in the main match in “Kumbati 16” at the NUSTAR Resort in Cebu City on January 26, 2024.

The event was organized by Omega Sports Promotions in partnership with Japan's Treasure Boxing Promotions.

Perhaps it can be said that it was an anticlimactic way to cap the night as Araneta brought Magdamo down in just one minute and 50 seconds.

Araneta won by technical knockout in the International Boxing Federation (IBF) Jr. flyweight eliminator.

Much was expected from the title match between Araneta and Magdamo, especially after the thrilling eight-round main card bout between Japan’s Keita Kurihara and Froilan Saludar that preceded it.

Kurihara defeated Saludar.

In a post-match interview, Araneta said his strength was his strongest weapon.

“Sikreto nako akong kusog… nagpababaw gyud akong upper, akong kusog,” he told GMA Regional TV Balitang Bisdak.

Pio Paulo Castillo, President of Omega Sports Promotions, said he did not expect the outcome of the final match.

“He came prepared… and we know Elorde. Elorde is a big, famous outfit in Manila. We have respect for them; nag-una pa na sila kaysa namo… so I did not expect the first round,” he said.

Meanwhile, among those who emerged victorious In the undercard fights were Lourinz Biasong of Bukidnon and Benny Cañete of Siquijor who defeated his Thai opponent with a first round knockout.
