Cebuano weightlifters who qualified for the 2024 Paris Olympics received P200,000 each from the University of Cebu where they are student-athletes.

Elreen Ann Ando and John Febuar Ceniza will also get P1 million each for any medal haul in the Paris Olympics set in July 2024.

Ceniza, a resident of Barangay Pasil, and Ando, a resident of Barangay Carreta, in Cebu City will compete in the men's 61-kilogram category and women’s 59-kilogram category, respectively.

The P200,000 each serves as their pocket money to the competition.

Their coach, Christopher Bureros, also gets the same amount as pocket allowance.

Atty. Augusto Go, UC president, and UC Chancellor Candice Gotianuy, vowed to reward the two qualifiers with P1 million each for Paris Olympics medals they would bring home.

Ceniza and Ando said they will train doubly hard now that they are closer to their Olympic dreams.
