UST to hold Paskuhan 2017

The University of Santo Tomas (UST) will celebrate the birth of Christ, the “King of Kings,” with Paskuhan 2017 on Wednesday, December 20, at the UST Grandstand.

Prior to the celebration on Wednesday, Paskuhan 2017 kicked off last December 1 at the Plaza Mayor with a Eucharistic Celebration, Campus Lighting, as well as a Christmas Concert with performers from the UST Conservatory of Music.

The Holy Mass was presided by UST Rector, Very Rev. Fr. Herminio V. Dagohoy, O.P., concelebrated with Dominican priests.

The campus decorations, carrying the theme of “King of Kings,” lit up in synchronization with the beat of the concert’s opening song, “O Come All Ye Faithful” performed by the UST Symphony Orchestra and the Coro Tomasino and Liturgikon Vocal Ensemble. The concert ended with an original song titled “Pasko sa UST” performed under the baton of internationally-renowned conductor and UST Professor Herminigildo G. Ranera, and composed and arranged by UST Conservatory of Music Dean Antonio P. Africa.

Following the opening of the Paskuhan festivities last December 1, UST’s annual Christmas showcase on December 20 will feature a cosplay competition and a performance by the well-lauded UST Salinggawi Dance Troupe. Notable bands will also perform during the Paskuhan concert which will begin at 3:00 p.m.

The traditionally celebrated Paskuhan will culminate in the much-anticipated pyromusical display which will illuminate the UST skyline at 9:00 p.m.
