Miss World Philippines head says PHL could host int'l pageant in 2019

Could the Philippines host the Miss World pageant for the first time?

Miss World Philippines National Director Arnold Vegafria in a press conference on Friday shared that it won't happen this year or the next, but there's hope for the future.

"I have an offer to stage the Miss World pageant in 2019," he revealed.

The odds of the country playing host would increase with the help of sponsors and the government, especially the Department of Tourism (DOT).

News of a back-to-back hosting for Miss Universe had pageant fans on their toes, but the DOT announced that they had declined as it was "too soon."

The Miss World Philippines pageant, meanwhile, will be held on September 3 at the Mall of Asia Arena. The event will be telecast as a three-hour special on GMA on the same night. —AT/LA, GMA News
