In case you're traveling to Palawan: Some El Nido sites are on restricted access as 'Survivor South Africa' begins shooting


Puerto Princesa, Palawan — Visitors to El Nido in Palawan will have restricted access to five tour sites on certain dates beginning January 21 until the third week of February to give way to the filming of an international reality show franchise.

"Survivor South Africa" has begun shooting in El Nido, Palawan.

A letter signed by El Nido Mayor Nieves Rosento on  Friday, January 19 and posted in the town's tourism office Facebook page on Monday, January 22, stated that shooting for the South African franchise of the reality show was set to start January 21 at the famous Big Lagoon.

 


Other sites in the world famous tourist destination where shoot was scheduled include Pinagbuyutan Island, Secret Lagoon, Papaya Beach, and a sandbar near Lagen Island.

Survivor South Africa will follow a five-week shooting calendar, with four shooting dates happening in the first two weeks: The Big Lagoon on January 21, Pinagbuyutan Island on January 25, and at a sandbar near Lagen Island on Januar 28 and February 3.

Four shooting dates are scheduled on both the third and the fourth weeks, which will see the full production crew and cast in all five sites.

Shooting will end on February 21 at Papaya Beach.

As such, most of the indicated sites will not be accessible to tourists between 7:00am and 3:00pm on shooting dates.

All sites are located in Bacuit Bay, the center of activities for tourists visiting the world-famous town.

Below are the sites and dates when they will be on restricted access:

  • Big Lagoon: January 21, February 7, February 10. Closed to tourists 8:00am-1:00pm
  • Pinagbuyutan Island: January 25, February 12 ,February 19. Closed to tourists 7:00am-3:00pm.
  • Sandbar near Lagen Island: January 28, February 3, February 11, February 16. Closed to tourists 7:00am-3:00pm.
  • Secret Lagoon: February 5. Closed to tourists 7:00am-3:00pm.
  • Papaya Beach: February 9, February 17, February 21. Closed to tourists 7:00am-3:00pm.

El Nido has also been the site for reality shows Koh-Lanta (France) and Leg 12 of The Amazing Race Season 5 (US). — LA, GMA News
