GMA’s Felipe Gozon receives Distinguished Achievement Award from International Honor Society




GMA Network Chairman and CEO Atty. Felipe L. Gozon was conferred on November 24 the Distinguished Achievement Award by the International Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi University of the Philippines Chapter (045) for being “a topnotch lawyer and media executive” during the latter’s 80th Anniversary.
 
Gozon was recognized for “steering GMA Network to a leading force for national transformation” as well as “for his leadership in business as evidenced by numerous recognitions, as [a] CEO and Business Icon.”
 
Gozon is considered as one of the pillars who rebuilt Republic Broadcasting System (RBS)-TV Channel 7 from a cash strapped TV station in the 1970’s to the broadcast giant that it is today.
 
When he became President and CEO in 2000, he instituted a culture of excellence and changed the direction of the company paving the way for numerous achievements both locally and internationally. He has been the Chairman of GMA since 1975.
 
He holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from UP and a Master of Laws degree from Yale University, and is a member of many local and international honor societies and bar associations.
 
Apart from Gozon, other distinguished awardees for this year are former Prime Minister Cesar Enrique A. Virata, Dr. Ernesto Domingo, Dr. Manuel S. Alba, Dr. Baldomero M. Olivera, Dr. Renato V. Solidum, Jr., and Dr. Serafin D. Quiazon.
