BPO, IT-related professionals most in demand in PHL – LinkedIn report

Sales professionals are highly in demand in the Philippines, a report by professional network portal LinkedIn showed  on Thursday.

According to LinkedIn, the top three most hired professionals in the country are related to the business process outsourcing (BPO) and information technology (IT) industry: sales professionals, software developers and customer service specialists.

"This also reflects the country's growing demand of skilled talent and fastest growing sectors – particularly in BPO representing a range of industries including IT, outsourcing, education, banking and financial services," it said in an emailed statement.

According to LinkedIn's first account on recruitment in the country – "Recruiting In the Philippines: A Special Report On The Philippines' Skilled Workforce and How to Attract Top Talent" – here are the top 10 most hired occupations:

1. Sales professional
2. Software developer
3. Customer Service Specialist
4. Marketing Specialist
5. Administration Manager
6. Recruiter
7. IT Support Specialist
8. HR Professional
9. IT Consultant
10. Accountant

"Much of the boost to the Philippine economy is attributed to the BPO industry. As the sector matures, the demand for skills such as digital marketing and IT is on the rise," Feon Ang, LinkedIn vice president for Talent and Learning Solutions in Asia Pacific, said in a statement.
