Security Bank reports delay in system, extends banking hours

Security Bank Corp. extended banking hours on Wednesday to accommodate clients affected by the delay in the posting of banking transactions in its system.

"Yesterday, we encountered a delay in posting banking transactions on our systems.  We continue to perform system maintenance activities to address this and expect our systems to be fully updated by close of business today," it said in a statement.

GMA News Online has reached out to officials of the bank for more details, but no response has been received as of posting.

To address this, Security Bank said it will extend banking hours until 7:00 p.m.

"The delay in posting banking transactions does not and will not impact the financial integrity of our customers’ accounts. While some services were affected, the delay did not prevent our customers from accessing their funds," Security Bank said.

"Security Bank wishes to apologize for the inconvenience this delay may have caused our valued customers," it added.

Security Bank is the third bank to report an issue in its system in the last three weeks, following BDO Unibank Inc. which suffered from a "localized skimming attack," and the Bank of the Philippine Islands which reported an internal data processing error. —ALG, GMA News
