CebuPac flight at Palawan airport moved due to ‘sunset limitations’

At least one flight of budget carrier Cebu Pacific on Sunday was moved to an earlier schedule due to restrictions at the Puerto Princesa International Aiport.

The airline said it moved flight 5J 646 from Palawan to Manila from 7:25 p.m. to an earlier time of 4:55 p.m. on Sunday.

The flight, however, was delayed and rescheduled again to 5:25 p.m. due to the delay of the turnaround aircraft.

“It was retimed earlier due to limitations on flying after sunset at the airport concerned,” Charo Logarta-Lagamon said in a phone interview.

In a separate phone interview, Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) spokesperson Eric Apolonio said the flight was moved due to “sunset limitations.”

Other carriers such as Philippine Airlines (PAL) and AirAsia also have Manila-bound flights from the airport, which are scheduled before sunset.

The expected sunset in the Philippines on Sunday is at 6:08 p.m.

CAAP Palawan Area Manager Percie Malonecio said there were no problems in terms of the airport operations.

“Wala namang problema ‘yung airport namin. Hanggang 9:00 p.m. ‘yung operations,” he said, adding that the airport could accommodate extensions should it be needed by the airlines. —ALG, GMA News
