LTFRB to start accepting new TNVS applications Friday

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) is set to start accepting applications for new Transport Network Vehicle Services (TNVS) drivers on Friday.

"(S)tarting 24 August 2018, the Board will accept the online registration of TNVS applications for new CPC (certificate of Public Convenience) not included in the 'master list' by accessing the LTFRB website," the agency said in a statement sent to reporters via Viber.

The LTFRB in March accepted TNVS applicants, provided they were included in the master list of the Transport Network Companies (TNCs) which then were only Grab and Uber.

According to the LTFRB, it will start accepting those not included in the master list, provided they follow the guidelines set by the agency.

"No application for TNVS franchise shall be received by the Board, unless the online registration shall be completed, including the schedule data for actual filing of the application," it said.

According to the LTFRB, it has since received a total of 21,878 applications for new CPC since it accepted applicants in March. It said it issued the provisional authority for 13,816 TNVS, and CPCs for 4,925.

"Despite the call for application, the Board has taken note of the fact that there have been fewer applications for new CPCs for the primary reason TNVS owners have been unable or unwilling to file applications," the LTFRB said.

"Given that TNVS owners/operators have been given sufficient time to submit their applications and have their TNVS registered, the Board now orders all TNVS units included in the “master list” and those currently allowed to book rides to submit their applications and to secure the necessary Provisional Authority (PAs) on or before 31 August 2018," it added.

In the same statement, the LTFRB said it will start an "intensive" anti-colorum campaign against illegal TNVS operators starting next month.

"Consequently, effective 01 September 2018, the LTFRB shall commence an intensive ani-colorum drive versus TNVS operating without authority from the Board," the LTFRB said. — RSJ, GMA News
