Maynilad announces 13-hour daily service interruptions starting June 28

Select customers of Maynilad Water Services Inc. would experience 13-hour daily service interruptions this week as the west zone concessionaire is set to replace ultrafiltration (UF) membranes at the Putatan Water Treatment Plant.

In an advisory, Maynilad said the replacement of the initial three of the 14 UF membranes will cause daily water service interruptions from 5 p.m. to 6 a.m. from Wednesday, June 28, 2023, to August 8, 2023.

“This replacement will be done in batches, to minimize the impact on customers of the resulting lower production,” it said.

“After this initial batch of three membranes is removed and changed with new ones, we will provide an update on the next schedule of service interruption for when the remaining 11 membranes will be replaced,” it added.

Below is a list of the affected areas in Las Piñas City, Bacoor City, and Imus City:

Maynilad in January said maintenance activities are ongoing in its water treatment plants in Putatan, Muntinlupa, but noted that the full 300-million liters per day (MLD) output is “just enough” for the requirements of its customers in the area which is why reduction due to maintenance activities are immediately felt.

The company aims to provide uninterrupted water services with normal pressure to 88% of its customers by the end of 2023, and to all its customers by 2027.

Maynilad currently serves customers in the west zone, which covers the cities of Caloocan, Las Piñas, Makati, Malabon Manila, Muntinlupa, Navotas, Parañaque, Pasay, Quezon, Valenzuela. It also services certain areas in Cavite such as the cities of Bacoor, Cavite, and Imus; and the towns of Kawit, Noveleta, and Rosario. — DVM, GMA Integrated News
