Grab, Uber, other TNVS to get different color plates

The government will issue license plates with a different color to Grab, Uber and other transport network vehicle service (TNVS) units, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board announced on Monday.

According to Oscar Oida's report on "24 Oras", LTFRB member Aileen Lazada also said that the LTFRB would increase cap onb the number of TNVS in Metro Manila from 45,000 to 65,000.

"A different color will be assigned to the TNVS. Likewise, LTFRB will be issuing a sticker," Lazada said at a news conference.

"Para ho ito sa enforcement purposes para pag nakita na po, it is easier for HPG and MMDA, LTO, LTFRB to identify TNVS on the road," she added..

At present, TNVS have black on white license plates similar to private vehicles. Taxis and other public utility vehicles have black on yellow.

The new LTFRB Memorandum Circular 2018-005 increased the cap on TNVS by 20,000 more units.

Lizada said the was based on the study of a third-party auditor contracted by the LTFRB.

"The things to consider are coding because not all cars are on the road... Likewise manintenance and availability of peer partner operator," Lizada.

There are more than 59,000 active TNVS units in the LTFRB master list. They will be given priority when the agency opens its application process on March 5. —NB, GMA News
