New ride-hailing firm, U-Go, applies for LTFRB accreditation

A new Transport Network Company (TNC) is seeking accreditation from the Land Transportation and Franchising Board (LTFRB).

"May isang TNC na nagpapa-accredit," LTFRB Board Member and Spokesperson Aileen A. Lizada said in a text message to reporters on Tuesday.

Separately, Lizada told GMA News Online the TNC is a "new" company called "U-Go."

The LTFRB will have a special board meeting later on Tuesday to discuss the matter.

"We need to be thorough re: accreditation," Lizada said, noting the board needs to hold hearings for a TNC accreditation.

Regarding the timeline, Lizada said: "No target date yet."

The LTFRB on Monday slapped Uber Systems Inc. with a one month suspension for supposedly defying an order halting the activation of new drivers.

According to the LTFRB, Uber continued processing new applications despite the standing order on the approval of new Transport Network Vehicle Service (TNVS) providers.
