PNoy boasts of economic growth under his watch: ‘You ain’t seen nothing yet’

President Benigno Aquino III on Tuesday once again trumpeted the country’s economic gains under his administration, and encouraged investors to “bet on the Philippines.”

In a speech during the Euromoney Philippines Investment Forum in Makati, Aquino enumerated his government's advances in the economic front, including increase in foreign direct investments.

"The tremendous amount of confidence the global community has developed towards the Philippines is incredibly gratifying, especially considering that not too long ago, we were considered the sick man of Asia,” Aquino said in his speech.

"Our administration remains hard at work so that we can maximize all opportunities available to us. I think many of you will agree with me when I say, you ain’t seen nothing yet,” he added.

The President also committed to increase infrastructure spending to 5 percent of the country’s gross domestic product (GDP) by 2016.

He also assured investors that his administration is addressing the power supply gap this summer through tapping alternative energy sources and building new power plants.

Aquino however lamented that these efforts continue to be “relegated to the back pages.”

“Our effort to change the negative mindset remains to be a work in progress,” he said. —KG, GMA News
