MRT ops disrupted after seat catches fire


Operations of the Metro Rail Transit were disrupted on Monday morning after a seat inside a coach caught fire, a report on radio dzBB said.

According to a report by Allan Gatus, the incident occurred at the Santolan Station past 6 a.m.

 

 

Transportation Undersecretary for Rails Cesar Chavez said the regulator board under a seat inside coach no. 66 caught fire.

The regulator board controls the power in the coach's "chopper."

The train's driver immediately got a fire extinguisher and put out the fire.

There were passengers on the affected train but no one was injured. There was also no commotion.

Authorities are probing the incident to determine the cause of the fire. —KG, GMA News
