4 tons of trash hauled daily from Manila since start of rainy season

Garbage has been washing ashing up along Roxas Boulevard since the rainy season began.

Vonne Aquino reported for GMA News' News To Go Thursday that the local government unit has been hauling an average of 4 tons or 2 truckloads of trash daily.

This includes large amounts of plastic, rubber, and styrofoam. According to the Manila City Hall, the trash washes ashore from Baseco, Cavite, and Laguna.

Clean up on Roxas Boulevard began 7am on Thursday, with workers from the Department of Public Services and Department of Public Works and Highways sorting wood from non-biodegradable items.

Operatives from Manila's Public and Safety Department and Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) have also been tapped to help with the clean up.
