Police raid Makati bar, 125 people rounded up

Authorities conducted a buy-bust operation in a bar in Makati City early Saturday and rounded up 125 people, according to a report on Super Radyo dzBB by Mao dela Cruz.

The 125 people—a mix of local and foreign customers and employees of Time in Manila Bar on Makati Avenue—were invited to the police station for questioning.

Thirty-one employees including waiters and bouncers were arrested for allegedly supplying and distributing illegal drugs.

Authorities recovered during the raid a few pieces of alleged ecstasy tablets, several plastic sachets of alleged cocaine and shabu, and drug paraphernalia.

National Capital Region Police Office director Chief Superintendent Guillermo Eleazar personally went to the said bar to inspect the evidence after the operation.

The party drugs reportedly are being sold at up to P2,000 per piece.

Eleazar said a poseur buyer went to buy illegal drugs, and the bouncer and waiter went to the office of the manager to place the order.

The bar manager, Danny Regino, however, denied any involvement in illegal drugs.

A drug pusher arrested last week reportedly told police the bar supplied the drugs.

Police are still searching the venue for further evidence as of posting time. —KG, GMA News
