Villar, Pacquiao are Senate billionaires; Trillanes ‘poorest’

Senator Cynthia Villar is still the Senate’s richest member, but she is no longer the only billionaire, as boxing icon and Senator Manny Pacquiao also declared more than P3 billion in net worth. 

Based on their 2016 statements of assets, liabilities, and net worth (SALNs), Villar remained the richest with a net worth of P3.6 billion, slightly higher than P3.5 billion the previous year.

Pacquiao reported a net worth of P3.072 billion, making him the second richest senator.

Senator Francis “Chiz” Escudero is no longer the “poorest” member among the 24 senators, as Senator Antonio Trillanes IV declared a net worth of 6.5 million. His net worth increased from P5.9 million the previous year.

Escudero, meanwhile, has P6.6 million compared to his 2015 net worth of P5.8 million, making him the second poorest senator.

The third poorest senator is Leila de Lima with P6.6 million.

De Lima is currently detained at the PNP Custodial Center in Camp Crame over her alleged involvement in the proliferation of illegal drugs inside the national penitentiary.
