VP Robredo visits Kian's wake in Caloocan City

Vice President Leni Robredo on Sunday visited the wake of 17-year-old Kian Loyd delos Santos who was killed in anti-illegal drugs operation in Caloocan City last week.

Robredo, who came all the way from Naga City, arrived at Kian's wake at about 7 a.m. to offer sympathies and condolences to Kian's family, a radio dzBB report by Divine Reyes said.

During her visit, the Vice President talked with Kian's father, Zaldy, and visited the to scene where Kian was shot dead by police operatives —including the area caught on CCTV where the teenager was seen being dragged by policemen.

Robredo also offered help to Kian's family, including a free legal assistance, in coordination with the Free Legal Assistance Group (FLAG).

Kian died after he was shot during an "Oplan Galugad" in Barangay 160 on Wednesday night.

Police claimed they recovered a cal-.45 pistol and two sachets of suspected shabu from the victim.

Kian's father Zaldy, however, said they have obtained a CCTV footage that shows his son was brought by policemen to the place where he was killed.

Policemen involved in the operation claimed the teenager resisted arrest and shot them with a pistol as he was escaping.

But Zaldy claimed his son was blindfolded by the police and was being forced to identify drug pushers in their area.

A witness has also come forward, claiming that the teenager had begged for his life.

On Saturday, Senator Risa Hontiveros also visited at Kian's wake and promised to give protection and security to his family. —Erwin Sanchez Colcol, GMA News
