Kian Loyd's family willing to undergo drug test

Members of Kian delos Santos's family are willing to undergo drug tests to disprove Philippine National Police chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa's allegation that they are users and involved in the illegal drug trade.

"Basta willing po kami magpa-drug test. Kaming pamilya,” Levy delos Santos, Kian’s uncle, said in an interview with GMA News' Bam Alegre during Kian Loyd’s wake in Barangay 160, Caloocan City.

Levy added that they are willing to undergo drug testings by several institutions and agencies.

In a radio interview on Saturday, Dela Rosa said that Kian Loyd was used by his own father and uncles in the illegal drug trade.

He said that based on intelligence information, Kian's father, Zaldy, was a user and his uncles were pushers.

In his report on Unang Balita, Alegre said that barangay officials insisted that the person seen in a CCTV camera footage being dragged by policemen in plainclothes was Kian Loyd.

They also disproved allegations on social media that the person in the footage was wearing pants and could not have been Kian Loyd, who was wearing shorts.

Barangay officials said a closer look at the footage would show that the person was actually wearing shorts. They said Kian Loyd's family positively identified him as the person in the footage.

The barangay also countered a post on social media by Caloocan Assistant Prosecutor Darwin Cañete that the video footage was recorded hours before Kian Loyd's body was found in an alley in the barangay.

Rogelio Dante, the barangay tanod who was on duty that night said Kian Loyd was taken by policemen around 8:30 p.m. and he was able to submit a spot report at 9:00 p.m.

"Basta 8:30 or before 8:30. Tapos 9:00, nasa spot report namin sa blotter," he said.

Meanwhile, Kian Loyd’s parents have yet to decide the date of their son’s interment.

In a resolution signed after a caucus on Sunday night, the Senate majority condemned the killing of Kian Loyd, as well as the killings in recent drug operation by policemen in Bulacan and Metro Manila.

The majority senator have also called for an inquiry into the latest killings, including Kian Loyd's.

Senator Joel Villanueva, one of the signatories of the resolution, had said the resolution will be referred to the Senate committee on public order and dangerous drugs chaired by Senator Panfilo Lacson, also a member of the majority bloc.

In an interview on radio dzBB on Saturday, Lacson said they would like to find out if the recent killings in police drug raids was state sponsored. —Akari Nakano/ALG/KVD, GMA News
