Rallyists burn ‘Rody’s Cube’ in Mendiola

As part of their anti-martial law protest, militant groups burned what they called the "Rody's Cube" in Mendiola on Thursday afternoon.

According to radio dzBB's Allan Gatus, the cube had the faces of President Rodrigo Duterte, the late strongman Ferdinand Marcos, Nazi leader Adolf Hitler and a puppy or "tuta" and had three interchangeable/movable layers.

Protesters were shouting "Never Again! Never Again to Martial Law!" as they turned and burned the cube.

The rallyists are expected to proceed to Luneta Park to join other groups such as the Movement Against Tyranny to voice their protests against Duterte's war against illegal drugs, alleged extrajudicial killings and military rule in Mindanao.

Duterte earlier declared September 21, 2017 as a National Day of Protest.

Duterte said he issued the proclamation "in solidarity with the people's call against all excesses and shortcomings of the government, and with the people's desire to uphold the highest standards of integrity, efficiency and accountability in government." — Anna Felicia Bajo/RSJ/KVD, GMA News
