Photos of slain terror leaders Isnilon Hapilon, Omar Maute

Photos of slain terror group leaders Isnilon Hapilon and Omar Maute were released on Monday following the military's confirmation on their deaths during an overnight operation in Marawi City.

The first photo was that of slain Hapilon, the reported emir of the Islamic State in Southeast Asia.

The second photo, meanwhile, is that of Omar, one of the Maute brothers who led the siege in Marawi City on May 23.

Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana has confirmed that the two terror leaders have been killed.

In an earlier report by Emil Sumangil on News To Go, government troops were also able to rescue 17 hostages of the Maute group during the operation that started late Sunday.

The operation was conducted after a day after the military missed its October 15 deadline to end the crisis in the war-torn city. —ALG, GMA News
