Cebu's Ricardo Cardinal Vidal dies

Cebu Archbishop Emeritus Ricardo Cardinal Vidal passed away at a hospital on Wednesday, he was 86.

One of his doctors, Dr. Rene Josef Bullecer, told GMA News Online last Friday that the prelate was already "past the most critical" stage and is under close observation and monitoring.

He was brought to the hospital because "he was having difficulty breathing." He began recovering from semi-comatose state late last week, Bullecer added. 

Vidal served as the archbishop of Cebu for 29 years until he retired in 2011. —LBG, GMA News
